Welcome to FocusQuest. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our Android application. We are committed to protecting your personal data and being transparent about our practices.


2. Information We Collect

We prioritize your privacy and minimize data collection. 


Data collected automatically: When you use the app, third-party advertising SDKs (such as Google AdMob) may automatically collect device information, including IP addresses, mobile advertising IDs (e.g., Google Advertising ID), crash logs, and general usage data (app interactions) for the purpose of serving ads and preventing fraud.


Data stored locally on device: Your focus statistics, user preferences, unlocked items, and app settings are stored locally on your device's internal storage using Room Database and DataStore. This data is NEVER transmitted to our servers.


Data NOT collected: We do NOT collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location (GPS), photos, or contacts. We do not have user accounts or a central database of our users.


3. Permissions Used

To provide core functionality, FocusQuest requires the following Android system permissions:

• INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required by Google AdMob to request and display advertisements. No personal data is transmitted by our app directly.

• POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to send you local daily reminders to keep your streak and notify you when a focus session ends.

• FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE: Allows the focus timer to continue running reliably in the background while you use other apps or lock your phone.

• RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Used to reschedule your local daily reminders if you restart your device.

• SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Required to ensure the timer finishes exactly on time and triggers a notification.


4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect data:

• Google AdMob: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use device identifiers, location data (approximate), and app interaction data to provide personalized ads and combat fraud. 

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK, we use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to gather your consent for personalized advertising in compliance with the GDPR.

5. Data Retention

• Local Data: Your focus history, coins, and levels persist entirely on your device until you manually clear the app's data in your Android settings or uninstall the app.

• Third-Party Data: Data collected by Google AdMob is retained according to Google's retention policies.


6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any of your personal data with third parties. The only data shared is the automated telemetry and identifiers collected directly by our third-party advertising partner (Google AdMob) as described above.


7. User Rights & Control

• Ad Personalization: You can opt out of personalized advertising by navigating to your device's Google Settings > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization. Users in applicable regions (like the EEA) can manage their consent choices through the in-app consent dialog provided by Google UMP.

• Data Deletion: Because all your user data (stats, levels) is stored locally, you can permanently delete it at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing the app's storage in your device settings.


8. Children's Privacy

FocusQuest is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.


9. Account Deletion

FocusQuest does not use user accounts, logins, or cloud saves. Therefore, there is no account to delete. Uninstalling the app will completely remove all your data from your device.


10. Security

We take reasonable measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no security measure is 100% perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.


11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
